6th century Assyrian monastery opened in southeastern Turkey 100 years after its abandonment

 sixth-century Assyrian monastery in southeastern Batman province opened on Monday some 100 years after being abandoned.

The monastery, founded by Mor Aho, an Assyrian monk who lived between 575-600 B.C., was left abandoned during the relocation of the Ottoman Armenians in 1915. Turkish authorities started its renovation last year to open the monastery for the small Assyrian community living in Batman’s Gercüş district.

YPG’s IED workshop discovered by Turkish forces in Syria’s Afrin

he Turkish military on Monday discovered a workshop of improvised explosive devices (IED) during security sweeps in Syria’s Afrin region, recently liberated from terrorists.

During the search, the security forces found a barn used by the terrorist PKK-linked People’s Protection Units (YPG) as an IED manufacturing facility.

Security forces detonated the explosives safely, including 10 TM-57 anti-tank mines and 5 improvised pipe bombs.
